Brian Childree

Brian Childree To Race In Dynojet Pro Sportbike at Arai Mountain Nationals

May 21, 2014News, Pressbrian childree, miller motorsport park, miller motorsports park, utahsba

From a press release issued by BC49 Racing:

Director of the Utah Sport Bike Association’s New Racer Experience Brian Childree will make his Pro Sportbike debut during the Arai Mountain Nationals Superbike Shootout at Miller Motorsports Park on May 24-25 2014.

Childree won five UtahSBA Class Championships in 2013 and is excited to have the opportunity to race against the fastest Pro Sportbike racers in the country, and race with the UtahSBA on the same weekend.

“It’s been a lot of work for the Superbike Shootout and the UtahSBA to make this happen, and racing in a Professional event in front of my local family and friends will be the payoff”, Childree said. It’s great exposure for our club, and for the New Racer Experience. I want to  help as many new riders as possible to get involved in the sport I love. What better way than to race with the best?”

BC49 Racing would like to thank Honda Suzuki of Salt Lake, Apex Trackdays, Nitron Suspension, Kabuto Helmets, Spidi, Vortex, Galfer, Proformance Motorcycle Dyno Tuning, Chicken Hawk Racing, and XT Racing.

Tickets for the May 24-25 2014 Arai Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park are $6 per day for adults and are available at the gate, with kids 12 and under admitted free of charge; and parking is free.

UtahSBA Champion Oleg Pianykh Sets Sights on Superbike Shootout at Miller Motorsports Park

From a press release issued by Moto Station SLC:

Two-time King of the Mountain and UtahSBA #1 Plate Holder Oleg Pianykh will race his Moto Station SLC supported Superbike in the RaceFuelZ Pro Superbike race at Miller Motorsports Park.

“I was so excited when the Superbike Shootout partnered with my local club, the Utah Sportbike Association to host Professional road racing at one of the best racetracks in the country. May is early in the racing season for us in Utah, I wish the race was later in the year. But we’ll put in the best effort we can”, Pianykh said.

If racing against the fastest in the country isn’t enough of a challenge, Oleg will up the ante by defending his UtahSBA Championship that weekend in the club races. The snag? He uses Pirelli tires in the UtahSBA Championship and he will be using the Dunlop spec tires in the Superbike Shootout races. Oleg has a feeling for those tires already, having finished 13th in the 2013 AMA Pro Superbike race at Miller. Moto Station SLC has every rim in the shop stripped and ready!

Moto Station SLC and Oleg Pianykh would like to thank Evolution Machining, Vortex and Motul for their Support. We would like to invite everyone to stop by our Garage and say hello.

Tickets for the May 24-25 2014 Arai Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park are $6 per day for adults and are available at the gate, with kids 12 and under admitted free of charge; and parking is free.

April 26 – 27: Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

May 3 – 4: Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Michael Barnes

Michael Barnes To Race MV Agusta F3 675 For Veloce Racing

March 26, 2014News, Pressmichael barnes, miller motorsport park, mv agusta, sonoma raceway, veloce racing

From a press release issued by Veloce Racing:

The 2012 AMA Pro Harley-Davidson XR 1200 Champion and journeyman racer Michael Barnes will compete in the AMA Pro Racing Daytona Sportbike class for the remainder of the 2014 season on board an MV Agusta F3 675 fielded by Veloce Racing.

The team will continue testing through April and will participate in two rounds of the newly formed Superbike Shootout Series, prior to the team’s first AMA Pro round in Elkhart Lake, WI (May 30-June 1). Barnes will contest rounds 2 & 3 of the Superbike Shootout: May 3-4 at Sonoma Raceway and May 24-25 at Miller Motorsports Park.

Michael Barnes: “I’m so excited to be back riding in the DSB class on a professional team, not to mention getting to ride the ultra cool MV Agusta F3 675 . I’m really looking forward to riding the 675 Triple. I feel the 3-cylinder configuration offers a usable mix between the high revving Inline Fours and the torque of a Twin. I feel the MV’s compact size and nimble handling should suit my riding style as well. I’m excited to work with my new crew, consisting of racer/tuner Chase McFarland and racer/tuner Nobi Iso; they are both great people and dedicated to this project. Team principal Spiros Gabrilis is as passionate as I am about racing and I’m looking forward to an exciting year with a new team. The MV Agusta brand will be the 15th motorcycle brand I’ve raced throughout my career and somewhere around the 40th team I’ve raced for in the last 26 years. I have a lot of confidence in my team and can’t wait to get started”

Spiros Gabrilis: “Last year’s work with the stunning F3 convinced us of the machine’s great potential. Yet we were missing the key piece: A development rider with tremendous experience and a willingness to take on what inarguably is a challenge. When the team met to discuss possible candidates the long and short lists condensed to one name: ‘Michael Barnes.’ Veloce prides themselves in eschewing the easy route to competitiveness in favor of solving technical challenges. We welcome Michael to the famiglia and are excited about the season.”

Barnes is sponsored by RS-Taichi, Arai, Sidi, Forcefield, Motonation and Moto-Liberty

Veloce Racing is a privately-funded road race team based in Hillsboro, Oregon with a 12-year history of competition in the 125 and 250GP categories.

Veloce Racing is indebted to these fine sponsors for their generous support: SpeedyMoto, Duc Designed, Moto Forza MV Agusta (Escondito, CA), Moto-Liberty, RS-Taichi, Arai, Bazzaz Performance, Zero Gravity, Cox Racing Group, CapIt / TAW Performance, RB Components, Evol Technology, Mr. Rob Keith, MV Agusta USA.

Pro teams to participate in Utah Sport Bike Association event

Motorcycle racing enthusiasts throughout Utah and the Intermountain West will get a nice bonus over the weekend of May 24-25 when the top professional Superbike and Sportbike racing teams return to Miller Motorsports Park in conjunction with Round 2 of the Utah Sport Bike Association’s (UtahSBA) Vortex Masters of the Mountains championship.

The pro teams will visit Utah as part of a three-race independent series put together by John Ulrich, publisher of Roadracing World magazine and a longtime team owner, due to the lack of pro national races in the western United States. The series will begin April 26-27 at California’s Auto Club Speedway, moving on to Sonoma Raceway on May 3-4 and finishing up at Miller Motorsports Park. Plans are being finalized to provide television coverage for all three events.

The weekend will include a full field of Pro Superbike and Pro Sportbike teams, plus a full slate of racing for the amateur UtahSBA teams. Also on the weekend schedule are Round 3 of the National Auto Sport Association’s (NASA) Utah Region championship and Round 3 of the Utah Kart Championship. The UtahSBA and Pro teams will compete on the 2.2-mile West Course at Miller Motorsports Park, while the sports cars of the NASA Utah Region will compete on the 2.18-mile East Course. Tickets for the event are priced at only $6 per day for adults, with kids 12 and under admitted free of charge.

“We are very excited to welcome back all the top professional Superbike and Sportbike teams to Miller Motorsports Park,” said John Larson, General Manager of Miller Motorsports Park. “We appreciate the hard work and cooperation among John Ulrich, the teams and the Utah Sport Bike Association to bring this event to fruition, and we know that our dedicated motorcycle racing fans will support it wholeheartedly.”

Ulrich said he was motivated to create this three-race series to fill the gap in the schedule, give the teams more opportunities to race and provide exposure for their sponsors and provide motorcycle racing fans in the western United States with more opportunities to see their favorite athletes compete.

“We owe it to road racing fans to have national-level professional events here in the west, and when I saw that there wasn’t anything scheduled this side of the Mississippi River, I decided I had to do something about it,” Ulrich said. “Our series of three Pro Superbike races and three Pro Sportbike races held in conjunction with three existing regional events fits neatly into a five-week time frame and finishes with UtahSBA at Miller Motorsports Park. You couldn’t ask for a better racetrack and a better racing group to work with, and thanks to both for helping this effort to rebuild our sport in the United States.”

The UtahSBA has been an integral part of the racing family at Miller Motorsports Park since the track opened in 2006, and they are excited to have North America’s top racing teams compete with them.

“We’re very excited to be part of a professional road racing event of this caliber,” said Dana Wilson, Treasurer of UtahSBA. “Roadracing World has always been a supporter of our Vortex Masters of the Mountains series, so when I read John’s editorial outlining his vision for a new pro series, I reached out to see how we could help. UtahSBA runs a great regional series, and tracks don’t get any better than Miller Motorsports Park, so it seemed to be a good fit. With all the big teams coming in May, I’m sure we’ll see some longstanding West Course records fall.”

Among the riders who will be competing during the weekend include J.D. Beach, Cameron Beaubier, Garrett Gerloff, Jake Zemke, Martin Cardenas, Roger Hayden, Chris Clark, Chris Ulrich, Melissa Paris and young phenom Joe Roberts, along with three-time Superbike Champion Josh Hayes.

“It’s great to have the opportunity to go back to Miller Motorsports Park, a place that has always held a special place in my heart,” said Hayes. “I’m happy we’re going back to Utah and going to ride around a big, fast racetrack. We definitely never get to ride our motorcycles enough, and any opportunity to do laps on our motorcycles and practice our profession is definitely welcome.”
